V Wealth Advisors acquires practice with $40 million in AUM
The transaction was facilitated by Advisor Successions, an M&A services firm specializing in financial advisor acquisitions and successions.
Stan Webb, the founder of DreamCatcher Wealth Management based in Wichita, Kansas, engaged with Advisor Successions in order to find a suitable successor for his practice. Webb had been looking for a successor for a few years without luck when he discovered Advisor Successions. The firm worked with Webb to identify his criteria for a successor and leveraged their network of buyers to find a qualified match. “They told me that my practice was desirable and that it wouldn’t be hard to find a buyer, we just needed to find the right one,” says Webb. Advisor Successions soon connected Webb with Jeff Wetta, Managing Director of V Wealth Advisors, also located in Wichita, Kansas.
Both gentlemen engaged in a series of meetings, each a few hours long, in order to learn more about each other and their practices. Webb explains, “Jeff used the same client centric, client first philosophy in his own practice. That let me know it was a good fit.” Jeff also comments, “I loved that I actually got to talk directly to Stan instead of working through a website or with a representative.” Wetta goes on to share that, “You can’t really tell if something is a good fit on paper. You have to talk in person to really know it is a good fit.”
The transaction allows Webb to start his transition into retirement, while allowing Wetta to grow and hire an advisor he wanted to bring on board in his practice. The parties completed the initial transition on October 1st. Advisor Successions assisted both parties in the transaction by serving as an intermediary and providing negotiation support, deal structuring, and agreements.
